Self Care for Primary Care

Helena Stone

Project Manager: Helena Jordan

"I have been fortunate to see the impact of implementing Self Care in Primary Care, not only for patients but also for health care professionals. Through the integration of strategies (at practice and organisational level) that support Self Care I believe that patients feel empowered and more confident to take care of themselves, their family and friends. I look forward to the day when we see Self Care fully realised within Primary Care and reap the benefits for people, patients and health care professionals working together as partners towards the same goal." Helena Stone

Self Care for Primary Care worked with three PCT pilot sites (and selected practices within these sites), in order to test and evaluate the initiative prior to launch of the training materials tools to help PCTs and practices develop a self care strategy.

"I'd go as far as to say if we can fully realise a self care culture within the NHS, it will make a huge, huge difference." - Watch the video

WiPP formally completed its programme of work on 30th June 2008. This site will remain live until March 2009.
