The focus of this debate is 'Skill Mix in General Practice' and the wide ranging questions submitted by GP members of Doctors.net.uk enabled the panel of experts to address different issues relating to how roles are changing within general practice and other contentious issues.

Dr John ChisholmDr John Chisholm CBE
John is an adviser to WiPP and a member of the Working Partnership in Primary Care advisory group and the GPN and HCA steering groups. He is a member of the BMA's GPC and was its chairman between 1997 and 2004.

He is a member of the Councils of the BMA and the RCGP and a member of the BMA's Ethics Committee and Patient Liaison Group. He is a patron of the Men's Health Forum and was a member of the Expert Patients Task Force. John is also Medical Director of Concordia Health.

Lynn YoungLynn Young, Primary Health Care Policy Adviser, RCN
Lynn has been the RCN policy adviser since 1990 and prior to that was a district nurse in west London. She is currently working on issues relating to the white paper Our Health, Our Care, Our Say...

...and is closely involved with WIPP, particularly the GPN and HCA projects. Lynn links to the DH, National Heart Forum, RCGP and pharmaceutical industry. She was awarded the FRCGP (Hons) in November 2004.

Chris TownChris Town
Chris has a history of being actively involved in change management in the NHS and has an excellent personal track record as a leader. He was appointed by NHS Employers to chair the new pharmacy contract negotiations...

...until April 2007 and is also chair of the Connecting for Health Electronic Prescription Service Implementation Board. He has been actively involved for many years in numerous national working groups on policy development and implementing NHS reforms, particularly those relating to the development of Primary Care and PCTs.

Nigel SparrowProfessor Nigel Sparrow, Vice Chair, RCGP
Nigel is vice chairman of the RCGP and a GP in Nottingham. He is also associate director of postgraduate GP education at the Trent Multiprofessional Deanery and visiting professor of General Practice at the University of Lincoln.

He is a GP trainer and appraiser. At RCGP he is chair of the Quality Team Development programme and of the Innovation Unit. He has experience in developing and implementing quality initiatives in primary care and is involved in multi-professional education and training.
